Conceived in the mind of a man one day
A plan to build what had long been delayed
A barn, of sort, but so much more
For nothing as grand had been tried before.
Many a day had he spent in thought
Drawing and calculating the dimensions he sought
Nothing so common as shed's and gables
Would he allow to be spread on his table.
Finally, in time, his thoughts came to life
He measured the tree's from their width to their height
Considering all, he selected but few
Knowing that none but the best would do.
Having laid the foundation so careful and true
It would bear the weight of the tree's to be hewn
All was now ready to be laid in it's place
Each board pre-planned, each corner pre-laced.
Months went by and seasons did change
But none of his plan did he re-arrange
The work, then complete, he stood and he looked
And of each of it's members, not one was forsook
Though hard was the task which he undertook.
Many have asked in centuries gone by
The reason he built this barn to the sky
The answer is clear and plain to the eye
If skillfully trained to look inside.
For it was not his love of building, as such
But love for the creatures, placed in his trust.
To finish this story, for it to be known,
I find it will need a change of it's tone
Away from the surface so brittle and cold,
And down to the heart, where spirit unfolds.
There is so much more to be gleaned from the former,
Than that of a man, and his barn, and his honor.
While the barn that he built was conceived in his mind,
The world was created by God and divine.
God did not, so study a plan
But called into being the earth and the man
His breath became life from the dust of the earth
And God alone, did determine it's worth.
Man was then given the right to inherit,
The earth and her frame, as God so prepared it.
Perfectly joined and knit together,
Not even in image of self did he spare it.
In love he created the first and the best
Trusting the man when it came to the test
To love and obey was imply the call
But man to temptation did silently fall.
In time, earth's frame became bent and distorted
As man, in his sin, abused and destroyed it
Even in this, God planned to rebuild it
by sending his son, on beam to restore it.
So often we choose to forsake this gift
And turn from the love he tenderly gives
But hope lies waiting, as each morning sun
Offered to each and by faith it is won.
